After long and arduous years of study under the state institution of Cal Poly Pomona, masters David Celaya and Jaqueline Kyoda expose their works in a hidden nook at the library in the Foothills. Only for January.

this series of 12 is named: Meditations on Eden. These patterns emerged earlier in my drawing, since latter colleges days when I began to draw with science. Lines, and symmetry began to appear in the contruction of these patterns, yet the patterns themselves were very organic. In a way, I can believe that nature was made in a similar fashion = freely flowing in within structure.

This is also a means of honoring every leaf and or flower as a Masterful piece of Creation! Most times we see a whole tree, so here is the opportunity for close examination and inspection of the smaller things of life. Hopefully this attitude will then transfer into 2010 for you…:)

Work displayed at Zinnia

October 13, 2009

Union

this is a tiny piece made for Zinnia’s ( an awesome trinket store/gallery in South Pas) Global Day of Climate Action:

At Zinnia we are planning a really exciting event.  We are going to have 350 pieces of art that will be 350 picas X 350 picas (approx 4.8″ X 4.8″), each piece will sell for 350 pesos (about $26.) 350 cents will go to the cause and the unveiling of these works will be at 3:50pm on the 24th of October.

I was told it didn’t have anything to do with climate. I’m not sure I believe in climate action, I’m not sure I know what it is, but doing a piece on a 4.8″ X 4.8″ was a good time. This came out of my brain or hand while talking to my sister on the phone. When it was done I was surprised to call it “Union”.

Furniture Remake Project

September 8, 2009

furniture 007

The first finished furniture remake project.  After making this furniture road-side find in Studio City in late September of last year, I slowly took my sweet old time to sanding the whole thing back down, implementing the design (and figuring out what material to use) and finishing it with 3 coats…patience in craft.  The end result ended up as a wedding shower gift for a friend.

Have my current body of work hanging at Zephyr.  Go and drink yourself a cup of coffee, or eat some of their food or smoke a hookah.  Myself and Mary Blandino have some paintings up as well as an installation in the entry portion of the coffeeshop.

I am My Beloveds' card

blank inside

On that note, I also  have prints of my work that are 12 X 16 inches with a matting for $30. I also have greeting cards that are $1 each, you can also buy packets of 5. Please contact me at jaquelinekyoda@gmail.com, if interested in any of the work. See samples below.Click on images for more details.

Most of these have been in process since Nov. of last year. This is the halfway mark of these wood panel series I’ve been working. I still have a few blank panels to go.
